FAQ: Sports
Do you treat sports injuries?
Yes certainly I do. I have a unique method of treating sports injuries as I base my work on 3 main foundations; 1. Blood flow control, 2. Muscle strength, and 3. Soft tissue flexibility. Injuries occur for particular reasons and I feel these reasons are often forgotten in the haste to treat symptoms. My approach to treating sports injuries is to eliminate the obstacles getting in the way of the body repairing itself. I use Acupuncture, TENS, Myofascial release and stretching exercises, and my results speak for themselves.

Should I use Ice after an injury.
Personally this is where I disagree with the conventional RICE. I have read all the latest information on what the efects of ice are, but my big question has always been, "Dioes the use of Ice improve the body's ability to recover as quickly as it is designed to do?" I do not believe that starving an injured area of blood for 10 to 20 minutes can be beneficial. Oxygen is essential for repair and should be allowed to reach an injured areas as soon as possible. My experience with treating rugby players is to get some form of treatment started ASAP, which negates the need for ice, and if I do use ice it is in 10 second doses, left to warm up and repeated. I believe in stimulating an increased rate of blood flow through the injured area to aid healing.
